About My Music Gift
My Music Gift is a woman-owned business registered in the state of Ohio. It was founded in 2005 when Tom Laskey realized that digital music downloads could be used to encourage direct mail recipients to open and give greater consideration to offers. After a number of successful pilot tests, Tom and his management team began developing the business in late 2005. My Music Gift was officially launched in January of 2006 by Jean Peters and Tom Laskey. Between the two they have over 45 years of business ownership experience. Jean Peters and Tom Laskey own and manage an Inc 500 company (JMPeters Staffing) and run a successful promotions company (CardplusCD).

Tom and his son Andrew, a college senior, spent weeks doing feasibility studies on a music/social networking web business. It was discovered early in the process that this concept had already been addressed so this business plan was dropped. Tom was sorting through the mail several days later. As a piece floated unopened into the trash, a sudden insight struck that a free music offer could keep direct mail from such a fate.
